Polo life

For the last year and a bit I have been spending much of what little free time I have playing hardcourt bike polo. I have never been big on sports, so I was surprised to discover inside myself a passion so great that it has brought me to new places, introduced me to new people, and stirred a desire to improve and excel like none I have ever known. This blog chronicles a few of the events I have participated in over that year, as well as several especially enjoyable sunny afternoons of pickup. Thank you to my club, East Van Bike Polo, for the challenge, inspiration, and good times. More importantly, thank you to my special lady, Jolene, for putting up with my ever-engulfing obsession. In a couple of weeks I am traveling to Calgary to participate in the North American Championships (NAHBPC 2011). I don't really think that I can compete at that level yet, but I am extremely excited for what I will learn from the challenge, and can't wait to see all my old Winnipeg friends and face them on the court. Please enjoy the photographs below, I only wish they could come close to documenting the truly great times I have had, on the court and off.

sunshiny nanny days

Since May of 2009, I have been looking after two very sweet little boys.  At the time they were only 15 and 10 months old.  They are now 2.5 and 2 years old.  I am beginning to feel sentimental as my time caring for them is coming to a close at the end of this summer.  This post is dedicated to my two little buddies, and the days the three of us spent exploring our city!

Thomas and Benjamin.  This is indeed a hug :)
